Type:

At present, TPMS can be divided into indirect tire pressure monitoring system and direct tire pressure monitoring system.

Indirect TPMS:

Direct TPMS

Wheel-speed Based TPMS (Wheel-Speed Based TPMS) , also known as WSB, uses the wheel speed sensor of ABS system to compare the rotational speed difference between tires in order to monitor tire pressure. ABS uses the wheel speed sensor to determine whether the wheels are locked and to decide whether to start the Anti-lock braking system. When tire pressure is reduced, the weight of the vehicle will reduce the diameter of the tire, the speed will change. A change in speed triggers the WSB alarm system, which alerts the owner to low tire pressure. So indirect TPMS belongs to passive TPMS.

Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System, PSB is a system that uses a pressure sensor mounted on the tire to measure the tire pressure, and uses a wireless transmitter to transmit pressure information from inside the tire to a central receiver module, then the tire pressure data are displayed. When the tire pressure is low or leaks, the system will alarm. Therefore, the direct TPMS belongs to the active TPMS.

Pros and Cons:

1.Proactive safety system

1

Existing vehicle safety systems, such as Anti-lock braking system, electronic speed locks, electronic power steering, airbags, etc. , can only protect life after an accident, belongs to“After the rescue Type” security system. However, TPMS is different from the safety system mentioned above, its function is that when the tire pressure is about to go wrong, TPMS can remind the driver to take safety measures through the alarm signal, and eliminate the possible accident, belongs to the“Proactive” security system.

2.Improve the service life of tires

2

The statistical data shows that the service life of a running automobile tire can only reach 70% of the design requirement if the tire pressure is below 25% of the standard value for a long time. On the other hand, if the tire pressure is too high, the middle part of the tire will be increased, if the tire pressure is higher than the normal value of 25% , the service life of the tire will be reduced to the design requirements of 80-85% , with the increase of tire temperature, the elastic bending degree of tire will increase, and the loss of tire will increase by 2% with the increase of 1 ° C.

3.Reduce fuel consumption, is conducive to environmental protection

3

According to the statistics, the tire pressure is 30% lower than the normal value, the engine needs more horsepower to provide the same speed, the gasoline consumption will be 110% of the original. The excessive consumption of gasoline not only increases the driving expenses of drivers, but also produces more exhaust gas by burning more gasoline, which affects the air quality. After the TPMS is installed, the driver can control the tire pressure in real time, which can not only reduce fuel consumption, but also reduce the pollution caused by automobile exhaust.

4.Avoid irregular wear and tear of vehicle components

4

If the car under the condition of high tire pressure driving, the long run will lead to serious engine chassis wear; if the tire pressure is not uniform, it will cause brake deflection, thus increasing the non-conventional loss of suspension system.
